PHYSIOGNOMY - METOPOSCOPY Three heads, illustrative of physiognomical traits, in respect to Metoposcopy, or the reading of forehead-lines, wrinkles and other marks on the face. From Barthelmy Cocles, Metoposcopia, 1658 edition. [Left] The interpretation of naevi or other blemishes on the face, in terms of zodiacal influences. These influences seem to descend from the top of the forehead (where Aries rules) to the bottom of the chin (where Pisces rules). [Middle] The location (and thus the influences) of the seven planets, in terms of the wrinkles on the forehead. Once again, the influences follow a downward descent - this time, in terms of the planetary spheres. [Right] The interpretation of naevi or other blemishes on the face, in terms of zodiacal influences. These appear to involve little more than a mirror image interpretation of the first figure.
