Top left, Captain John Smith is captured by Indians, who dance around him. Top centre, a conjurer and priest dance on either side of an Idol, that looks on as a group of magicians practise their conjurations around Smith (an event which occurred in 1602). Top right, Captain Smith captures the Indian King, in 1603. Bottom left - Smith captures the King of Paspahegh, 1609. Centre, bottom: Map of Virginia, based on Smith's descriptions of the settlements. Bottom right: The Indian princess, Pocahontas saves the life of Captain Smith.
