Waxing gibbous moon at 12 days. The dark regions or "seas" visible are the Mare Crisium (far right, near the moon's eastern limb), with the Mare Fecunditatis below it & the twin Mare Serenitatis (top) & Mare Tranquillitatis to their left. The large sea at top left, towards the terminator, is the Mare Imbrium; the sea at lower left is the Mare Nubium. To the left of the Mare Imbrium is the Oceanus Procellarum. The prominent crater beneath the Mare Imbrium is Copernicus, & the bright rayed crater near the bottom is Tycho. One of a series of photographs of the phases of the moon. 8" f/10, 7th August 1987
