Biochip cancer detector. Illustration of a cancer cell (lower centre) bound to a microchip detector (biochip). This design shows the zig-zagging microchip channels lined with nanotubes which selectively bind cancer cells (blue), while allowing other cells to pass thorough (such as red blood cells and white blood cells). When a blood sample is applied to the microchip, it can detect minute amounts of cancer cells.
