Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope (WSRT) antenna. This dish is one of fourteen antennae which form an aperture synthesis radio telescope located near Westerbork, in the Netherlands. It is operated by ASTRON, the Dutch foundation for astronomical research. Signals acquired by the telescopes are combined to give an image which is equivalent to one obtained by a radio telescope with a diameter of 3 kilometres. Completed in 1970, it was upgraded in the 1990s, and again in around 2013. Photographed in October 2012.
