Fireworks Galaxy. Optical image of the spiral galaxy NGC 6946, the Fireworks Galaxy, which lies around 22 million light years from Earth, in the constellations Cepheus and Cygnus. In the past century, eight supernovas have been observed to explode in the arms of this galaxy, giving it its name. Imaged by NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory.
