Volcano on Mars. Mars possesses the largest known volcanoes in the Solar System, surrounded by other volcanic features including extensive lava flows and vast lava plains. The presence of numerous impact craters on the flanks of many of these volcanoes indicates that they are extinct, as lava flows would have otherwise covered the old impact craters.
