Livestock receipt. Tablet with an account in Sumerian cuneiform describing the receipt of oxen. Cuneiform was written by using a pointed stylus to make impressions on clay tablets. Lines 1-3 state: '5 fattened oxen, 25 fattened oxen, 5 oxen'. The year date colophon states: 'The year after Kimas destroyed'. Kimas was destroyed in the 46th year of Shulgi's reign (2048 BC), so this tablet dates to Shulgi year 47 (2047 BC). Sumerian was the language spoken and written in the 3rd millennium BC in what is now Iraq. Shulgi was the second king of the Third Dynasty of the Sumerian city-state of Ur.
