Variety of differential and selective microbiological culture media for inoculation and cultivation of bacteria. These growth media are either selective and support the growth of only certain bacteria or they contain indicators to distinguish one microorganism type from another one growing on the same medium. Some media are both selective and differential, such as MacConkey agar.
