Map of Ancient Germania, 19th century. This map is divided by colour into Germanic tribal groupings such as the Istvaeones (pink), the Herminones (blue), and the Vandals (Vindili, yellow). The green area includes Chauci, Saxons and Cimbrian Chersonese of Jutland. The border tribes are shown as the Belgae (yellow, west, Gaul), the Helvetii, Vindelici and Noricum (green, south) and the Bastarnae, Veneti, and Aestii (pink, east, Sarmatia). The distance scales are in Roman miles, Greek stadia, German miles, and British miles. Published in 'An Atlas of Ancient Geography' (1826) by US cartographer Henry Schenck Tanner (1786-1858).
