Cave shrimp. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a cave-dwelling shrimp Niphargus sp.). This freshwater amphipod crustacean is adapted to living in darkness underground and has no eyes. Niphargus sp. shrimps are found in groundwater and cave water in Western Eurasia. This specimen measures 9.7 mm long.
