Evidence of water flow on Mars. A view of the surface of Mars taken by NASA's Curiosity rover, just north of the Kimberley waypoint. The image shows beds of sandstone inclined to the southwest toward Mount Sharp, a mountain in the middle of Gale Crater. The inclination of the beds indicate there may have been rivers flowing down from the crater rim to the north into a lake to the south, where Mount Sharp is now. The Curiosity rover is part of the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission. It landed on Mars on 6 August 2012, on a mission to investigate the Martian climate and geology.
