Flint drinking water protest. Bottles labelled 'refreshing leaded Flint water' that were used by activists protesting against the handling by state officials of the Flint drinking water crisis. The crisis started in April 2014 when the water supply for Flint, Michigan, USA, became contaminated with lead after the supply was switched to the Flint River. This was more corrosive than the previous water supply (from Lake Huron and the Detroit River), and it leached lead from old water pipes. A public health state of emergency was declared and the original water supply restored in October 2015. Photographed on 19 January 2016, in Lansing, Michigan, USA.
