Spiny lobster katydid (Panoploscelis specularis). These very large predatory insects are poorly known, the genus being endemic to remote and inaccessable rainforests in Central and South America. The male of P. specularis was not described until 2003. Nevertheless they are locally abundant in rainforest close to the foothills of the Andes in Ecuador.
