Graph showing changes in the amounts of different fossil spores and pollen from Antarctic rock samples from 70 million years ago (left) to 65 million years ago (right). Each data set is for a single spore or pollen type. During this time the Antarctic peninsular was covered in temperate rainforest. The flora composition varies slightly with temperature, with cooler climatic phases shown in blue and warmer climatic phases shown in pink. The white section is Chicxulub impact event that wiped out the dinosaurs 66 million years ago. The rock samples were collected from Seymour Island.
