Calcified ankle arteries. Coloured X-ray of the ankle of a 65-year-old patient with arteritis (inflammation of the arteries) and calcification of the dorsalis pedis and posterior tibial arteries (thin white lines), and bone demineralisation. Arteritis has many causes, including infection and autoimmune responses. Treatment is with steroid drugs to reduce the inflammation.
