Stockport Hydro power station. View over the Archimedes screws of Stockport Hydro, Cheshire, UK. This community-owned renewable energy project produces electricity by using water diverted from the weir (background) to turn two Archimedes screws connected to generators. It began operation in 2012 and can generate up to 230,000kWh of electricity each year.
