Fljotsdalur hydro power station turbine hall, part of Karahnjukar, a controversial hydro electricity project in North East Iceland. It is in the wilderness area of Vatnajokull and was created by damming the Jokuls a Dal river. It is controversial as it flooded a huge area of one of Europe's last wilderness areas, that was home to nesting Whooper Swans and Pink Footed Geese. The project does however produce 40% of Iceland's electricity from renewables.
