Tick. Ticks (superfamily Ixodoidea) are parasitic arachnids. The females feed on the blood of mammals, birds and reptiles and their body's swell with the blood that they suck via mouthparts embedded deep in the skin. When it is full of blood, it will drop off. Ticks are vectors for a number of animal and human diseases, including Lyme disease.
