Close-up of the surface of the dwarf planet Pluto taken by the New Horizons spacecraft at a distance of 770,000 kilometres. Seen here for the first time is a range of icy mountains that extend up to 3,500 metres above Pluto's surface. They are thought to be no older than 100 million years and may still be in the process of building, suggesting that the area is still geologically active today.
