Oilbird (Steatornis caripensis) roosting in a gorge. Oilbirds are found in northern South America. They live in large colonies in caves where they roost during the day, emerging at night to feed on fruit of the forest trees. They are unique amongst birds in that they emit a series of audible clicks that are used in echolocation. Photographed in Trinidad.
