Night sky over Dasht-e Kavir. Night sky over a salt cedar (Tamarix sp.) plant on a sand dune in Dasht-e Kavir (Great Salt Desert), Iran. Saturn is the brightest point, while the bright blue star Regulus is the second-brightest. The small pale green elongated halo below Regulus is the comet Lulin (C/2007 N3). Near top is the Beehive star cluster (M44).
