EINAC programmers Maryln Meltzer (then Wescoff, 1922-2008) and Ruth Teitelbaum (then Lichterman, 1924-1986) demonstrating a punch card machine. Punch cards were used to enter data into and retrieve data from EINAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer), a digital calculator used to calculate ballistic trajectories. Although not a true computer, ENIAC is considered the second general purpose electronic calculator (after the British COLOSSUS).
