Red-winged starling (Onychognathus morio). Red-winged starling (Onychognathus morio) perched on a rock. This starling has rich red/brown coloured primary feathers on its wings. It inhabits rocky outcrops, gorges and upland areas in parts of Africa south of the Sahara. Its diet comprises fruits, insects and occasionally nectar. O. morio forms strong pair bonds, but when not breeding may gather in small flocks. Photographed in Cape Town, South Africa.
