Brain tumour. Section through a brain, showing a large meningioma (round, upper right). Meningiomas are tumours arising from the meninges - the membranes that surround the brain. They are usually benign (non-cancerous). Many produce no symptoms and require no treatment other than observation. Those that do cause symptoms may be treated with either radiotherapy or surgery.
