Dead grey whale (Eschrichtius robustus) calf on beach, with scavenging seabirds feeding on the carcass. This whale is found in coastal waters, migrating with the seasons from Arctic waters to tropical equatorial waters. It can grow up to 15 metres in length and weigh 16 tonnes. After giving birth, female grey whales stay with their calves in warm coastal waters for a few months before migrating to Alaska. Photographed at Guerero Negro, Baja California Sur, Mexico.
