Illustration depicting the reception of Bikaner. Bikaner with its young Maharaja, gave the Royal party an enthusiastic reception, although the visit was shorn of much of its glamour by the famine which had recently caused widespread distress. The Maharaja was one of the two chiefs chosen to represent the State at King Edward's Coronation, and during the visit of the Prince of Wales was made aide-de-camp, a recognition of his military services and loyalty to the King-Emperor. A group of Rajputs and Sirdars are here seen waiting at the railway station for the Royal train.
