Taenia tapeworm, coloured environmental scanning electron micrograph (ESEM). This intestinal parasite has a flattened tape-like body, and can reach lengths of 5 to 9 metres. The body is segmented, with ring-like sections ending in a small head (scolex, top) with four suction cups used to attach to its host.
