Liver fluke (Fasciola hepatica), coloured environmental scanning electron micrograph (ESEM). This parasitic flatworm reaches sizes of around one centimetre. The adults are hermaphrodites and have flattened bodies with oral and ventral suction cups (shown here) used to fasten to their host. This parasite is found in the liver and bile ducts.
