Hanging of Anne du Bourg. 16th Century engraving by Franz Hogenberg, of the French magistrate Anne du Bourg being hanged and burned for heresy in Paris, France. In 1557, du Bourg became counsellor of the Parliament of Paris. He attacked the royal policy of repression against supposed heretics. Henry II arrested him and he was convicted of heresy and hanged at the Place De Greve, Paris, on 23rd December 1559.
