Bridge U Bein teak bridge is located on Lake Taungthaman at Amarapura . It was built in 1849 by the mayor U Bein with teak columns abandoned during the transfer of the capital to Mandalay . It crosses the lake 1 . 2 km to reach Kyautawgyi near Paya , making it the longest teak bridge in the world . Amarapura . Mandalay Division . Burma . Republic of the Union of Myanmar .
