Rock display, Geoscope geological park. Samples of rock from the local region are provided, together with descriptions of their formation and origin. This cairn symbolises the four natural regions in the Lozere department and indicates the relative ages of the rocks (from top): basalt (9-6 million years ago), limestone (200-140 mya), granites (320-300 mya), and metamorphic schists (400-plus mya). This display is part of the Geoscope geological park (see image C014/6934). This tourist attraction is located at the La Lozere motorway service, at junction 32 of the A75 autoroute, between Les Monts-Vert and Albaret-Sainte-Marie, central France.
