Thornback ray (Raja clavata) mouth, close-up. This ray is found in shallow coastal Atlantic waters, sometimes buried on sandy seabeds. It can grow to lengths of one metre. It uses its mouth (upper centre, on its underside) to feed on crustaceans and small fish.
