Paul Tissandier's balloon license, issued by the Aero-Club de France on 7 January 1904. French aeronaut Paul Tissandier (1881-1945), the son and nephew of aeronaut brothers Gaston and Albert Tissandier, would go on to pilot airships and aeroplanes. The Aero-Club de France (founded 1898) became a founder member of the International Aeronautical Federation (FAI) in 1905. Shown here are the first hot-air balloon (Montgolfier brothers, top left) and the first hydrogen balloon (top right), both from 1783. The signatures are of the Aero-Club's President, the Marquis Jules-Albert de Dion (lower left), and Secretary-General, Georges Besancon (lower right).
