Mountain geography. Artwork of various geographical features of mountain landscapes. At right is a karst limestone landscape formed by water erosion, including cave stalactites and stalagmites. In the foreground at lower right are fossils of marine reptiles and marine invertebrates. These fossils formed millions of years ago under ancient seas, and have been uplifted here as the mountains formed. Snow and ice falling on the mountains form glaciers (upper right) and rivers that erode the mountains (scree slopes at centre). Some rocks are deposited by ancient glaciers. Also shown here are a bird-of-prey (lower left) and a cable car system (upper right).
