Iron Tower, Nuremberg. 19th-century artwork of the Iron Tower and Hangman's Bridge (Henkersteg) in Nuremberg, Germany. This bridge was first built in 1457, over the river Pegnitz. It was later replaced with a roofed walk and tower in which the town executioner lived, hence the name. This wood engraving dates from circa 1888.
