Ruins of Temple of Kalabsha. 19th-century view of the ruined interior of the Temple of Kalabsha in Egypt. These ruins, known in Ancient Greek as Talmis, were located on the west bank of the River Nile, 50 kilometres south of Aswan in Nubia. The temple dates to 30 BC during the early Roman period of Ancient Egypt. The ruins were relocated in 1970 to save them from the rising waters of Lake Nasser behind the Aswan High Dam. This 1851 view, by the photographer Felix Teynard, was published in Paris in 1858.
