Bird market, London, 1890s. Caged birds in Sclater Street, London, UK. The shop is that of James Morris, naturalist and dealer in animals 'from a humming bird to an elephant'. The shop claims to have been established for over 50 years. Sclater Street was famous for having a bird market every Sunday. This photograph was published in the 1 July 1895 issue of the short-lived weekly magazine 'The New Budget' (April to October 1895), successor to the 'Pall Mall Budget'.
