Cupping set dating from around the year 1850, England. This set comprises of a twelve bladed steel and brass scarificator with two cups, a syringe, and a spirit burner. This set would have been used in a procedure called 'wet cupping', a form of bloodletting used in the nineteenth century to 'treat' a range of ailments by removing surplus bodily 'humours' (fluids within the body).
