Palace building. Historical artwork of the building of the Palace of Khavarnaq (Al-Khornaq) in Al-Hira in what is now Iraq. The palace was built for Nu'man (reigned 418-461), an Arab ruler of the Lakhmid dynasty. He had close relations with the Persians (the Neo-Persian Sassanid Empire) and raised Bahram Gur who later reigned as Bahram V (420438). This artwork is from a Persian manuscript of Nizami's 'Khamsa' (Five Poems), produced in Herat (in what is now Afghanistan) in around 1495.
