Death of Sir John Chandos in 1369. 15th-century artwork of the English knight Sir John Chandos dying on 31 December 1369 at Lussac-les-Chateaux in France. He was one of the leading English commanders during the Hundred Years' War and one of the founding members of the Order of the Garter in the 1340s. His death occurred during a minor night skirmish. Artwork from 'Chroniques de France et d'Angleterre', a history of France and England produced in the early 15th century by chronicler Jean Froissart.
