Jekyll and Hyde story illustration. 1920s artwork illustrating the novella 'Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde' (1886) by Scottish novelist Robert Louis Balfour Stevenson (1850-1894). This story is an account of strange events in London centred on the respectable gentleman Dr Henry Jekyll and the sinister character of Edward Hyde. It is eventually revealed that they are the same person, with the transformation from Jekyll to Hyde (shown here) effected by drinking a potion. This artwork is from a 1928 edition of Stevenson's works, illustrated by Edmund Joseph Sullivan (1869-1933).
