Jack the Ripper murders. Illustrated 19th-century newspaper report on two of the Whitechapel murders in London, UK, part of what would become known as the Jack the Ripper case. The Berner Street victim (Elizabeth Stride, top) and Mitre Square victim (Catherine Eddowes, bottom) were both killed on 30 September 1888. The number of victims is uncertain. Police investigated eleven murders in the area between 1888 and 1891. The case was never solved. This page is from the 6 October 1888 issue of the London newspaper 'The Illustrated Police News'.
