Gastric antral vascular ectasia. Endoscopic view of the antrum (final portion of stomach), affected by gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE). GAVE, or watermelon stomach, is associated with painless upper gastrointestinal bleeding. It is treated with laser and cauterisation. Sometimes removal of the distal stomach is necessary. It is not associated with cancer. It usually occurs in the distal (antrum) stomach.
