Benjamin Franklin's asbestos purse. This purse, made from tremolite asbestos, was brought to the UK by 19-year-old future US statesman and scientist Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) in 1724. He sold it to British collector Hans Sloane, and it is now part of the Hans Sloane Collection of the Natural History Museum, London, UK.
