Bronze head of Dionysus found in the pyramid tomb at Meroe of Prince Arikan Kharer, son of King Natakmani (c,12 BC 12 AD). Late Hellenistic in style, dating from c 150 BC, it is one of several Greek objects found in Meroitic royal tombs. It was probably obtained in the course of trade with Ptolemaic Egypt. Sudan.
