A faience shabti from the tomb of Prince Shoshenq, high priest of Ptah at Memphis, Shabti worked in place of the deceased in the land of the dead. In the 3rd Intermediate Period it was the custom to have 365 shabti, one for each day of the year, plus an overseer for each ten workers. Egypt. Ancient Egyptian. 22nd Dynasty, c 840 BC.
