Prehistoric carved horse. Such carvings were made in ivory and bone by prehistoric peoples. The earliest such carvings date to around 30,000 years ago, with many examples from the Aurignacian culture. These early humans lived in Europe in the Late Stone Age (Upper Palaeolithic), between 45,000 and 30,000 years ago.
