Mousterian stone tool. Prehistoric stone tool being held in a hand. This stone tool is from the Mousterian stone tool industry, or Mode III. The name comes from the site of Le Moustier in France. They are associated primarily with Neanderthals in Europe, and date to between 300,000 and 30,000 years ago. The tools were made from materials such as flint. This stone tool was found at the Pinilla del Valle site, near Madrid, Spain.
