Eduardo Kac, transgenic artist. Kac uses biotechnology, often genetic engineering, to explore and critique scientific techniques and advances. Here he is stood next to one of his works, the 'Plantimal', a petunia that has had one of Kac's own genes inserted into it. The gene was taken from Kac's blood and is expressed in the red veins of the flowers.
